Introduction to Deena R. Weinstein, Storyteller
Deena uses stories to entertain, teach, and heal. She has been telling in educational, retirement, hospital, and religious communities and at public venues for thirty years. As a registered therapist, she uses stories and visualizations in her private practice, “Life Transitions: Thriving with Illness, Aging, Dying and Loss.” As a writer, poet, and storyteller, Deena has created a unique presentation as a storyteller, combining her skills and experiences.
Traveling between Garland (where she lives among trees with her husband) and Portland (where she now has an apartment and where her adult son and daughter reside), Deena enjoys listening as much as she does telling, and can often be seen and/or heard at North Star Music Cafe in Portland at Port Veritas (Spoken Word) and the gathering of the MOOSE herd!
Besides belonging to several story-telling organizations, she has served on the Executive Committee of the Healing Story Alliance, and has been heard on WMPG radio. Her repertoire includes children’s stories, “folk jokes” that bring laughter to the elders with whom she works, Jewish tales, fables and personal narrations that heal, and original works she has written.
