[Teller] I am a performing Storyteller
I am pleased to become a member of M.O.O.S.E. I recently moved back to my home state of Maine after wandering in the midwest for the past 20 years. I am a professor of education at University of Maine Farmington. It is a joy to make teachers of reading and writing. I require all of my students to learn some basic storytelling techniques and tell a story to a group of children. This assignment is most feared but by the end of the semester, students report that the storytelling experience was amazing and storytelling will become a useful technique for the classroom.

In 2010 I will celebrate 40 years as an educator from first grade to higher education with many interesting positions in between. I am convinced that storytelling is the vehicle by which we will teach the world to live peacefully--one person at a time; one story at a time.

I miss the Bluff Country Talespinners, the storytelling guild I helped to create in LaCrosse, Wi. But my heart has been warmed by the welcoming spirit of the M.O.O.S.E members and I look forward to a long and enjoyable association with this group. Thank you for your friendly welcome.

While I tell many stories for children and adult audiences, I have most recently begun to develop my personal stories. Ultimately I have developed a collection of stories of truth and wisdom.

Hi Phyllis, I tried to call you and the number on your MOOSE page didn't work. Hope Lewis and I did a storytelling show at Southwest Harbor Library last month. We are wondering if it could work for WM Storytelling Festival this year? I am doing a first-person performance of my GGGG Grandmother, Eunice Lakeman Hoar. I give her version of the family walking in and being the first white settlers on Rangeley Lake. (I will be doing this performance in Rangeley at some point this summer.)

Hope is doing stories of Maine women. I am not remembering the title. Something to do with Truth.

Our evening was very well received by about 40 folks.

I did my performance as a solo again last Sunday in West Paris (my hometown) to about 70 people. I had a Q&A after. Very well received, with many nice comments.

Each of us has about 30 minutes. Let me know if there are any possibilities of being part of the WMSF.

Soooo sorry to miss STF this year, plan to go next year!

Thanks!

Jude
