Do Not Walk in Front of Me: A Tale of Leadership

Most people, when given the choice, would choose not to be a leader. But whether we like it or not, we are constantly nudged (or thrust) into situations where we have the opportunity or the responsibility to lead, and while we can attend seminars and read lots of books about leadership, sometimes it’s just better to go back to the old stories for our lessons.

Joanne will share the story of three leaders, on an improbable journey through space and time and folklore, through things that were and never were, and once there was and once there was not, and things that may not be as improbable as our own lives.

Joanne has been telling stories since before she knew there was any such thing. Once she knew what she was doing, she stopped going to Confession for it, and started making money at it. (Well, just a little bit). Her stories are often amalgams of folk tales, real life, music, humor and something sticky to hold them all together. She tells for children and adult audiences alike, often simultaneously! "Do Not Walk in Front of Me" is her first foray into creating an epic story by weaving together several folktales from different cultures.

Joanne's CD "Lemmetellya: New Twists on Old Tales" was awarded a NAPPA Honors Award in 2008. It is available at cdbaby.com. Joanne is the producer of the monthly "Storytelling in the Pantry" series in Rochester, NH and is the current president of LANES (The League for the Advancement of NE Storytelling; www.lanes.org).
